The courses play around the campus at the University of Essex near historic Colchester. The university has good road, railway and bus links, it also boasts lots of amenities, shops, bars, banks, cafe's and restaurants. At the Sports Centre you can obtain a map and scorecard for the courses, you can also hire or buy discs.
18 Hole Course
This Course is the oldest 18 double chained basket course in England and starts at the top of the visitors car park and finishes at the tennis courts by the sports centre. The mature parkland surrounding the University offers the disc golfer lots of challenges including the infamous lake hole, where many a disc has been lost. The parkland is undulating with lots of little woods, which have been utilised very well for the course. The course has a mixture of concrete and grass tees, the grass tees are marked with a wooden marker at the front of the tee.
9 Hole Course
This short beginner friendly course starts and finishes at the sports centre. This course is a great introduction to the sport and is ideal for novices and children. The course also offers the more experienced disc golfer a chance to practise their short game, and is an ideal warm up for the bigger 18 basket course or for those times when you just want a quick round. The tee's for this course are all marked with a small concrete paving slab and the baskets poles have been marked with blue paint. Hole 9 of this course is also used in the long course.
