University of Essex Disc Golf Courses
18 Hole Course
The Course is the oldest 18 double chained basket course in England, it is situated around the campus at the University of Essex near Colchester. The University of Essex has good railway and bus links, it also boasts lots of amenities, shops, bars, banks, cafe's and restaurants. The course starts at the top of the car park and finishes at the lake by the library. The sports centre is where you can get a map of the course and hire or buy discs. The mature parkland surrounding the University offers the disc golfer lots of challenges including the infamous lake hope hole, where many a disc has been lost. The parkland is undulating with lots of little woods, which have been utilised very well for the course. At present the course is going through some changes due to the University expanding and constructing new buildings, fortunately there is enough land to play with and the course just keeps on evolving. We hope you will enjoy the changes and find new challenges with it.
Short Nine Course
We now have a permanent short nine basket course which starts and finishes at the sports centre. The course offers the disc golfer a chance to practise the short game as well as introducing the sport to novices and children alike, an ideal warm up for the bigger 18 basket course or ideal for those times when you just want a quick round.
